In less than 40 minutes and $30 Euros you can be in the heart of Girona by taking one of the many trains leaving all day from the Barcelona Sants main train station. Just Google for the train time table and you can book your tickets online. Be aware, the trains almost always leave promptly on time so make sure to give yourself time to get to the station. And always make sure you are boarding the train with the same number as the one you booked. Often more than one train will be going to the same destination around the same times!
